"The kind things' tour" — a public initiative implemented by people as warm as our blankets. Inspired by the charity work, they invited Woolkrafts to take part in it. We want to share our joy and tell about the project and its purpose in more detail.
— Where did it all start?
It all started in August 2017 in the Verkhola relaxation complex at the Upgrade yourself Camp, organized by the inspiring Alla and Andrii Klymenko.
We effectively spent 5 days at the Upgrade educational camp, which is dedicated to self-development. One of the tasks set by the organizers is to create a social project in 2 days. And present it to other teams. Of course, everyone had the idea of charity.
It was important not to dream about how we will change the world, but to create a "concrete difference" already today and demonstrate the result.
The projects were different, but all interesting and inspiring. There were guys who went to the nearest village and helped the elderly cope with their daily worries, and in the evening they were invited to the presentation of projects in the Verkholi Relax Park.
One of the teams under the motto #iamkidnessman collected more than 300 thousand hryvnias in 2 days, together with the Tabletochki fund, for the repair of one of the premises of Okhmatdyt. Others recorded Monatik's song "Kruzhyt" with a sign language translation, and their project was to create a website where hard of hearing people could find job.
— Why did you decide to do charity?
Our team decided that we want to help different categories of people and do it for at least a year, so the project "The kind things' tour" was born.
Its main idea is that every month we sell some product and send all the proceeds to targeted assistance. So, in August, we sold sleep masks with the words "Good night" written on them. All proceeds went to print atlases in Braille for visually impaired children. In September, we sold sugar-free panna cotta dessert and purchased glucometers for OKHMATDYT.
In October, all the money from the sale of Woolkrafts blankets will be transferred to a nursing home to make their lives a little more comfortable and warmer.
— How do you decide what will be the next cause for charity?
Our team is large, so one of the participants is responsible for the project every month, and the rest help. Of course, we consult and discuss ideas, but in general, the person responsible for the project makes the final decision.
What remains unchanged is the minimum fee — 50,000 hryvnias per month.
We also cooperate with the Ukrainian Charity Exchange, they often tell us the areas that urgently need funding.
We approach the project creatively, in particular to the selection of "kind things" so that people want to buy them, and it is easy to help.
— Tell more about the previous charity initiatives
We have already mentioned our previous actions, the results were as follows: August — more than 47 thousand hryvnias for printing atlases in Braille font, September — more than 67 thousand hryvnias for glucometers for Okhmatdyt.
— And what are the goals in working together with Woolkrafts?
In October, we set a more ambitious goal — to collect 100,000 hryvnias. And what is even more important, thanks to the sales of blankets, we will be able to create comfort for the elderly who need it very much.
