MOT x Sergiy Maidukov x Woolkrafts

Wartime art

The artist Serhiy Maidukov created a new illustration that captures the moment of time and the context in which we live for the second year in a row, especially for the unique art space “Module of Temporality”. This image became the basis of a triple collaboration between the MOT, Serhii Maidukov and Woolkrafts.

“We liked Serhii Maidukov’s work, because it really resonates and gives a clear context at a glance, — comments Woolkrafts. — This is another artifact of wartime, which is a symbol of resistance, stability, and also — confidence in our victory”.

Conditions in which
blankets were created

Like all the collaborations that are presented at the MOT, the blanket was also created in winter of 2022 in the conditions of blackouts caused by russian rocket attacks and drone attacks. The production process was also complicated by the fact that during the war waiting terms for some yarn colors increased. But such extremely difficult conditions seem to make these blankets even more special, because it is the embodiment of its time even in this dimension.

Goal of the project

“Module of Temporality” is a temporary cultural space from the don’t Take Fake team. The project started in Kyiv in February 2023: an exhibition with the participation of 28 artists from 10 countries and a series of special events took place for three months in a two-story structure built from 27 container modules. In May, the project went on a tour of Ukrainian cities and visited Dnipro, Lutsk and Lviv.

The goal of MOT is to demonstrate that large-scale cultural projects are possible in Ukraine even during the war, and to raise funds for the restoration of cultural institutions that suffered as a result of russian aggression.

During the exhibition, the blanket from the triple collaboration was sold exclusively in offline store of the art space. And a percentage of the sales was directed to the restoration of cultural heritage sites of Ukraine.
